La Bonne Compagnie - Wine & Whist

I went to my first La Bonne Compagnie (LBC) event yesterday! I'm so glad I was introduced to this group, because I've always wanted to be part of a group like this - awesome people having 18th Century events and generally being fabulous.  Last night was a Wine &Whist night.  We spent a bit of time on a walk, taking pictures while the sun was still out, before heading back to our hostess's home for dinner.
I had never played Whist before, and I really enjoyed it. It's a fun game similar to Hearts or Spades, and, as happens, the more wine and champagne you drink, the more fun you seem to have. ;-)
I almost decided to bust my butt to finish the red francaise in time, but instead I realized that I already had half a dozen gowns that I never have a chance to wear, so I picked one of my old gowns. At the last minute, I decided that I needed tall hair, so I took a cheap wig, bunched it up into a ball, and used it as a rat to give the base structure that I then built my style around. I used the wig I had worn with Caterina and piled it up around and on top of the rat to give a basic tall style. I then decorated it with some flowers and birds that I had on hand. :)

  4. You ladies looked so lovely! And I am racked with jealousy that you have a group of like minded friends who will dress up like that! I hope I can start a group like that one day...I just have to find the ladies that will do that!
